Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder

Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder is the most misdiagnosed condition in the field of psychology.  That’s because it’s a diagnosis of exclusion; all other conditions that can influence attention must first be ruled out before this label can be applied.  Unfortunately, comprehensive evaluations are not always done.  

 

At Lind Psychological Associates, we conduct a thorough evaluation to include a diagnostic interview, psychological testing and performance-based measures.  Making the appropriate diagnosis is crucial, as calling anxiety or depression an “attention deficit” can lead to treatment that actually makes the anxiety or depression worse.
